Jordan comes to us with a B.S. in Animal Science and has worked with many different types of animals, from dogs and cats to wildebeests and giraffes. She specialized in educating the public on animals so she enjoys talking with our Dexter’s customers on the best way to care for their furry friends at home. Jordan has a mixed pet household: Shaxx, her 4 year old Lab/Boxer mix, Winney and Coco, her tabby kittens, and her big cat, Pooj, who is 5.
What are you feeding at home?
Shaxx gets a mixture of kibble, freeze-dried and dehydrated food. The kibble is usually Pure Vita or Acana and soaked in water prior to meal time. I like to mix it up for my dog so he doesn’t get bored. For the freeze dried, I use Open Farm and Stella & Chewy’s. And for the dehydrated food I use The Honest Kitchen. My cats predominantly eat Weruva canned food and Stella and Chewy’s freeze dried dinner morsels. I also feed Primal Pronto. They get a small amount of Orijen Cat and Kitten kibble as a snack. Primal goat milk is a favorite for all my pets.
What’s your pet’s favorite treat?
My dog and cats both love the Smallbatch freeze-dried bite treats.
What natural remedy do you rely on?
The Honest Kitchen Perfect Form has been a lifesaver for my dog. I use it when he gets diarrhea from eating something new that didn’t sit well with him, or if he gets into the cat food. It firms him right up.
How did your pet come into your life?
I adopted Shaxx as a puppy from a rescue up in Fresno, CA. My kittens Winney and Coco were born to a feral mother at my old job. Their health and safety were in jeopardy so we took the litter of kittens and tried to catch mother, however, she abandoned her litter. I bottle-fed and raised her 5 newborn kittens, adopted out 3 and kept two.
