Toby grew up on horseback riding the Southern California show circuit. Her first adopted dog was Sauci, a Doberman Pinscher with Wobbler’s Syndrome. Searching for ways to improve Sauci’s life, Toby found Dexter’s Deli in 1998 and began a new way of feeding and healing all pets from that day forward. Toby is a shelter volunteer and participates in horse, dog and cat rescue. She is also a music expert, a lover of modern art and design, Billy The Kid aficionado and New Mexico addict. She and her husband Adrian, a retired professional skateboarder and active musician, share their home with numerous secondhand poodles.
What are you feeding at home?
We have been feeding Halshan Premium Raw Food to our dog family for about 17 years but we also mix things up with just about every other frozen food carried at Dexter’s Deli. In my opinion variety is King.
What’s your pet’s favorite toy?
Our dogs love this crazy brand of toys from Vermont called Doggie Styles & Kitty Too. Always made in the USA. Pat has had her Axel the Alien toy since she was a puppy–going on 15 years now!
What natural remedy do you rely on?
Can I list my current top three? Honest Kitchen Perfect Form, Sustenance Herbs G.I. Soothe Elixir and Aromadog Cough Drop.
How did your pet come into your life?
I have had many companion animals because I choose to adopt senior dogs. Some from shelters, some from rescues, some from individuals–I just look for the right fit for our current group and voila! I love old dogs!!
